Oscar de la Renta
The setting of the show was sublime and enchanting. The collection was supremely delicate, thanks to Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia who paid tribute to the fashion house’s founder and his Dominican Republican origins.
An unfamiliar name yet it had already been recognized by huge names such as Beyoncé and Kate Bosworth. Cong Tri’s NYFW debut was a special statement with the beautifully embellished evening gowns and enchantingly feminine items.
If you noticed the prominent summer vibes in this marvelous collection, it’s because Nicky Zimmermann was deeply inspired by the surfing documentary The Endless Summer. You can also see the reflection of surfing posters on magazine from the 60’s and 70’s on some of the pieces. There is femininity, freedom and pure expression in the collection and it is safe to say that Zimmermann has captured the essence of stereotypical summer yet gave it a personal twist.
Vintage elegance is this collection’s title. It’s the first thing you see when you see the velvet blazers, the gorgeously draped gowns, and the dazzling sparkle on the models strutting down the catwalk.
Zendaya x Tommy
For their final collaboration, Tommy Hilfiger and Zendaya embraced the mid seventies with flared jumpsuits, prints, and beautiful silk scarves. Suits, coats, and hats were prominently presented in the collection asserting the fierceness and edge of the Zendaya x Tommy woman.
For the first time, Brandon Maxwell introduced his menswear collection where he designed colorful blazers with sharp shoulder pads and wide legged pants that flowed so smoothly as each of the models walked down the catwalk. Irina Shayk, Bella Hadid, and Candice Swanepoel graced the catwalk in extravagant evening gowns towards the end. Throughout the show, denim was embraced in day-to-day looks.
Moss paid homage to the black origins of rock and roll in this collection. The colors, the suits, even the sequins all expressed this idea. Moss’s attention to detail was incredible as he even designed handbags in the shape of musical instruments.
